UCC Library & Info Centre Code of Conduct:
The University College of the Caribbean Library & Information
Centre provides educational resources and services to support learning
at UCC.
The Library creates and maintains a productive environment conducive to
thought, research, and study for members of its academic community.
It is the responsibility of Library
users to contribute to this atmosphere and to respect the needs of other
users.
Unacceptable behaviors include but is not limited to the following:
- Refusal to comply with instructions of UCC Library staff and campus officials.
- Disrupting in any manner the provision of an
environment that is conducive to study;
- Deliberate misuse of materials or equipment
that
interferes with or prevents timely access to resources or equipment
by
other users or staff;
- Violation of policies governing
computer, cell phone use and
harassment;
- Vandalism, theft, or defacement of library
materials or
other property;
The
Library is committed to the
safety of all users and takes seriously its obligation to manage
disruptive
behavior quickly and professionally. Please contact a Library staff
member or
community service officer if you need assistance.
User
Rights and Responsibilities
UCC’s
Library's primary mission is
to support the instructional, reference, research, and administrative
needs of
the university's students, faculty, and staff.
The
Library is intended
for research and study, to support the mission of the university, and to
preserve and protect the collections for future users. Members of the
university community (faculty, students, staff, current) have first
priority to
use library property, resources, and services. Any other use of library
facilities by non-affiliated users is not permitted and may be
considered
trespassing.
Regulations
The
Library has adopted regulations
to protect the rights of both users and staff, to create an appropriate,
comfortable and convenient environment for academic study.
All users are expected to contribute to an atmosphere that is conducive
to
study and to respect the rights and needs of others. The Library will
refuse
access to its facilities, resources, or services to anyone who acts
irresponsibly by disrupting the use of the facilities by others or by
being
disrespectful to other users or employees.
Persons
who are unwilling to abide by these
regulations will be asked to leave, and those refusing to do so will be
subject
to removal and may not be allowed further access to the library.
